Mount View Cattle Company is a beef cattle ranch that came in looking to refresh their logo. They requested a cow be in the foreground with mountains in the back to reflect their name.
I originally came up with the filled silhouette concept, but while I was creating the silhouette and looking at reference images, I came across some in which the cows had strong shadows across their faces due to their bone structure. I thought integrating the shadows of a cow’s face into the shadows of a mountain face would make for a unique design.
I paired the designs with a slender serif font, as the mountains and silhouettes already had a lot of visual weight to them and I didn’t want the logo to feel heavy.
